View Full Version : Christmas staff?
Do you hire extra staff for christmas?
We don't. We have skeleton staff anyway . The most people working on the shop floor at anyone time is two to cover the busy periods like when school has finished, and people coming home from work.
We end up hiring quite a large amount of christmas staff just to try and cope with all the extra demand . We can only have so many till operators which would be covered anyway , but it's more to try and keep stock on the shelves.

Yes we have to hire a large quantity of extra staff we wouldn't be able to manage otherwise. Business is good anyway but at christmas we obviously intend to increase profits on a large scale and can't do so without the extra bodies.
I started out as a christmas temp at the store I am at now, and after four years of graft am now assistant manager . Only instead of being the one who is interviewed i am now the interviewer which is still strange. So we do get extra staff in and occasionaly if they have something about them they will be offered a permanent contract.
We don't hire people solely for the christmas period. We have alot of students with us throughout the year who work a few evenings during the week and at weekends too. They generally want more hours when they are not studying so that's where our extra staffing comes from.
