I've been providing website hosting and design services since 1998, although my commercial website celebrates 5 years in January 2008
The previous website was a basic interface and was coming up for 3 years old
It was decided it needed a revamp and was replaced last weekend
I am currently working on a discount code for members here

In order to keep costs down I don't do any advertising, just word of mouth and links
A simple text link based on the signature would be a good compromise
I also have Google Adwords running :
Business Website Hosting
Domain Name transfers are FREE
From £1.00 per year

Those packages are incredibly cheap! Where are your servers located? Moreover, how can you manage to get your prices so low?
Thanks for your continued input into the forum.

I have been creating and designing websites since about 1995
In 1998 I obtained my first Domain Name and later that year I joined the online support team for Lycos Europe, due to my experience with HTML, PHP, and MySQL
In 2002 I decided to leave Lycos Europe and provide the website hosting myself, for various reasons, and so M8 INTERNET was established at the beginning of 2003
The first server was very expensive, customers were typically paying £100 a year, for not very much!
In 2006 there were enough customers to move provider and sub-lease an entire facility
As a result the costs are far lower, and we have passed this saving on to customers
We also listened to customers and introduced a wide range of packages to meet all needs, but even then they don't always match what the customer is after!
The biggest cost is now Domain Names, at about £4.00 per year
That is about half of what they were last year, and again we have passed part of this saving on to customers
Since we are a UK-based company, and most customers are in the UK, our servers are based in the UK
85% of current customers are in the UK
10% of current customers are in other countries in Europe
5% of current customers are elsewhere in the world
I did trial a server in the US, but this resulted in slow page loads due to the cache which the LINX uses
Although M8 INTERNET is operated as a business, it is not my main business and is not designed to make any profit
However, I have registered with the Inland Revenue and NI since 1998, just in case...
One advantage has been the tax advantages this gives!
