Stick a sign in the window!
However, don't make it look like you are "desparate"
Be clear and concise about what you offer and what you want from applicants
See below
Contact your local Job Centre, they can have a vacancy advert running within 3 hours
However, most applicants are unemployed or unemployable
Make it clear that experience is essential, that will weed out the wasters!
One advantage is that the service is free and the vacancies are also on their website
How busy are your premises?
How easy is it for staff to get to?
How many staff (or hours) can you afford?
Are your customers suffering, as you cannot keep the shop open, or concentrate on them?
Be flexible with applicants, but be firm on their hours!
Try to recruit "career" part-timers, with relevant experience, they are worth their weight in gold
I'd rather pay two part-timers at £7.00 per hour, for 21 hour per week each, than one full-timer at £6.50 for 42 hour per week
The actual cost to the business is the same, but if that full-timer is off, you are knackered!
At least with two part-timers there is some cover throughout
Sample advert :
VACANCY
Experienced part-time (sales, cashier, stockroom) staff wanted
Flexible shifts and hours, between 7am and 9pm
Training will be provided
Enquire within for full details and application form

Did you get sorted with your staffing?
No as my managers say we don't have enough in the budget because they have overspent. Hence the need for a new job. lol !!!

I have seen many companies trim their hourly paid staff to the absolute minimum and place the additional burden on their existing Management team
This is mainly due to the Managers not being covered by the WTD in most cases

Hey Dude,
Check out this site for a free interview questionnaire. www.retailmanual.com
As for a quick hire... ask customers if they know someone that has always worked for me...
Hi - this info is probably too late but you can post jobs for free on both www.reed.co.uk and www.myparttimejob.co.uk - I have successfully used both of them recently.
