View Full Version : Setting up an internet company
Hi
I need some advice on setting up an internet retail site - women's clothing. I have the contacts for the product (I have been a buyer for 10yrs) and plenty of people to build the web, the area I'm not familiar with is the logistical side of the business.
Does anyone know a company who can either carry out or advise on this eg distribution centre/taking orders/photography on the site?
Thanks

Logistics :
Sadly the number of companies that can deal with this is now very limited
Equally, most of them base their costs on a specified volume of units
So if they agree to hold and distribute 100,000 units, but you only sell 15,000 of those units, they will still invoice you for the agreed amount
As a result it may be cheaper to employ someone that used to work for a courier company, like DHL, and have them setup and manage a small distribution network for you
They will also know where to get the best courier rates, which will be a large cost to your company
If the premises you require are large enough then it may be worth contacting the local authority or enterprise company, not only will they be able to offer slightly better costs on commercial premises, but there are usually incentives
Taking orders on a (web)site :
This is an automated process
Normally these are received by eMail, printed out, and attached to the good to be despatched
Maker sure that payment is received first though!
Taking photographs on a (web)site :
This is all part of ecommerce preparation
With good software this can be managed by most people!
HI
Thanks for your advice I will look into the DHL option.
