Just wondering what is the situation regarding second hand work equipment? Obviously it is cheaper to buy but would you recomend it or should you always buy new .I'm just not entirely sure about the regulations.

It is perfectly fine to buy second hand work equipment.I know this because I was looking to buy something a few months ago,and had to look into then, because you have to be so careful these days about which act or rule you are breaking. All you have to make sure is that it meets the requirements of the PUWER regulations, which the person who you are buying of should have the correct documentation to prove this. That way it covers both parties.

No!! Always buy new!! I know it may be in good condition but whatever the equipment it will last you longer if it hasn't been used before. It may cost you more money now, but think of what it will save you in the future when you are going to have to pay for a new one anyway. That's just from my own experiance.

It depends on what equipment you are talking about, but I always buy new...

Definately buy new! It's easier to return and get a refund if you have any problems.
