What is the best way to tackle this issue?

you have to be careful with this one. Is it suspected or do you have actual proof?

Well there was only this one member of staff using this particular till float. They weren't caught with their hand in the till, but on doing the cash balance, it was down by quite a considerable amount.

Is this a regular occurance, or the first time it has happened?
You haven't got enough to go on I don't think. I'm not 100% sure on this one so don't take my word for it, but I think you actually have to catch them in the act before you can take it any further.

Well it's the first major cash loss. You will always get the odd missing pound here or there as we are not all perfect . I have given back wrong change before and can allow for a few mistakes. But this was quite a deficit.

You are right to have your suspicions , but i'm afraid I have to say that LOUISEH is right. I'm guessing you don't have CCTV?

You can't assume anything any more. If you haven't got any reaosnable evidence there's not a lot you can do about it.
The best thing to do it set up till checks, this will give your ideas a bit of evidence.

Richard
