For most companies and individuals this is true. The corporate environment is getting more and more aware of the importance of a Google Adwords account. Unfortunately for them it’s usually only Google itself that profits from these account. This happens not because Adwords doesn’t work but because its users don’t know how it works.
Furthermore, managing such an account requires a lot of time and knowledge about Adwords and this is not something everybody has. In the past (and present) this was done by internet marketers, but intelligent software programs are taking over. These software programs take less time, are efficient and a lot cheaper.

You can track customers from specific sources, you just need to know how to do it
Part of my sign up process includes a question, Where did you see our service advertised?
I am really disappointed by the performance of google ads (not to be confused with google searches), with just 5% of customers sourced from there
However, if you want to keep your website active in google rankings, then you need to spend at least the MINIMUM on google ads
If you don't then your website can lose up to 50% of its ranking

we use a company called matchmaker marketing, we pay a flat rate for our chosen keywords so there are no per click charges, works out at about half the cost we were paying using adwords ourself. and we 90% of time show in the top 3 for our main keyword Slatwall (http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk)

It is very worthwhile if you take the time to read through all the information and learn about it. Alternatively, there are many companies that can manage your Adwords campaign at a small management cost per day. I have known one company save a hell of a lot by using someone and they have the peace of mind that the money they are spenid on Adwords, is being used to its full potential.
