As many of you know I am a qualified Loss Prevention Officer
I can smell and spot fraud from a mile away

I make quite a few purchases from eBay UK, and out of about 200 purchases just two have been of fake DVDs, my fault really for not checking that they were "new and sealed", and one was a PayPal fraudster

A few weeks ago I purchased what was described as "Iron Man DVD new and sealed"
Included was a photo of the item, or so I was led to believe
As per usual, I then checked to see what other items the seller was selling
Oh, what a surprise, about 3 more of the same item, but all "new and sealed"
I won the item, which was about £5 below the retail price (local ASDA and TESCO)

The item arrived and it still had the price label AND the security seal on it for a major retailer
Normally these seals are removed BEFORE they are placed on sale, so clearly this item had not even reached the shelves but had reached the retailer

I sent an email to the retailer, with details of the item, how it had been received, and the seller ID on eBay UK (see below)
After a week there was no response and thought that was the end of it
However, I received an email from their head of Loss Prevention confirming my suspicions and thanking me for reporting not only the item but also the sellers details and photo the seller, which the seller had been stupid enough to put up on eBay UK
Again, I thought no more of it, so long as a dishonest member of staff has been caught and dealt with, that's good enough for me

In the post today a £100 gift card
Ironically, they aren't a retailer I use, so it's going to end up on eBay UK !

Which retailer do you refer to? If they catch someone because if it, the staff member could have been stealing £1000's worth of product a year.

Well done! We like the good guys...

I'd rather not mention the company or brand, but it's a well known high street book shop
At the time I was bidding there were only 4 of these DVDs
I already know these come in boxes of 12 DVDs, so that'll be "8 for the store, 4 for me"

Good job m8internet, you're brave enought to report the fake stuff from the culprit. Otherwise you would lose your hard-earned money. Good thing that you got a reward in return for being alert of the situation.

It wasn't fake, it was either stolen or misappropriated
