The first step is to try URL Removed (http://www /),, This will give you a really good idea about how to proceed. Of course, after that you'll have some questions, which you can post here, and we'll be happy to answer.
Your post is actually more of a site review request, but I'd really suggest trying to get some of the SEO to work on your own before submitting to have your site reviewed.
Cheers!!
URL Removed (http://www)

start by submitting your site to directories, such as kellysearch, google for a directory that has something to do with what your site does.
places like this forum are a good way to build links. google likes links as long as they come from a relavant page and are a one way link direct to you.
you also want to get google analytics and webmaster tools, they will help you keep track.
submit an upto date xml sitemap of your site to google using webmaster tools
make sure each page on your site has good content tageting, there is some good keyword loaded text on each page and all your meta tags are keyword loaded.
go to my site www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk and right click on a white bit of the page, then select "view source" all the code will come up and you will see all my meta tags at the top, keep your tags relavent for the page, so on my site, the slatwall (http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk) pages only talk about slatwall (http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk), the mannequin (http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk) pages only talk about mannequins (http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk)etc

Content is King, make sure your website has plenty of well written* relevant content to the subject and purpose of the website.
*well written means writing content that appeals firstly to your human visitors but also to the search engines.
1: Do an indepth Keywords and Phrases analysis of the sites that list at the top.
2: Ensure your website is content rich - relevance is extremely important to the likes of Google.
3: Ensure you have good placement of keywords and phrases in:
Page titles.
Meta tags.
Body content.
Heading tags.
4: Get links to your site from other related and relevant sites. Make sure the links to your site are linked via keywords/phrases.
5: Add plenty of new content, regularly.
6: Work on it. Check the positioning every time Google re-indexes your site.
7: Be patient.
Search engine ranking takes time. It will not happen right way and a lot depends on more than I can cover in this quick message.
How old is your website? What is the domain?
Good luck.
