View Full Version : New to Retail - Need help on POS
Hi Everyone,
Im new to this forum, i have a question and wasnt sure who to ask so I thought i'd give it a shot in here.
Basically I am in the process of setting up a website for my book store (which already has two small retail outlets), because i will now get sales both online and through my outlets I have come to a dilemma. Research I have done already suggests I need new tills, I am currently considering this solution http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product...s-software.jsp, however I am not sure if this will do what I need.
I need to be allow user on my website search for a book and either reserve it (in whichever of the two stores is nearest to them) or to purchase it directly through the site. Therefore if a purchase is made through the website stock has to be decreased in the physical outlets and vice-versa. However does anyone here know either if this solution has the abilility to incorporate this website aspect, or if not what I need to do.
Essentially I need someones advice on how I can keep cotrol of my website and retail sales through one database (or something like that).
Thanks alot

hello
i currently run 3 websites www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk www.taylorandnicholls.co.uk and www.shopfittingsltd.com
i use cubecart for all of them, costs about £200 to initially set one up, but you do get 40ish days of support from cubecart and they are brilliant and quick.
its very customisable and you can have stock levels on there.
have a look around, if you have any questions about cubecart itself, give me a shout, im getting pretty good with it

Hi there,
Not sure about the solution your proposed. But i am sure there is a microsoft epos solution which do the epos and website integrations. We offer this solution: POS from microsoft - micrsoft retail management system integrated with ecommerce websites ensuring your stock, orders, payments are in sycn with in store activities. I will be glad to help you out if you need any further information,
Kind Regards

Nobody ever got sacked for buying microsoft eh.... they should have been tho. and we all know it.
POS software is not a general product you need advice on which solutions suit your market and the kinds of product you sell and how you sell them. If it was a simple product to buy their wouldnt be a vast range of small software houses writing the same software.
Whilst not an ad - we're an independent supplier neutral across the industry and we help businesses get the right solution. Dont become a future customer by having invested money into a product that a sly sales guy has talked about - get an independent view.

I think you should go through Web POS that can be used in all the store and that too online. Web POS (http://www.posterita.com) will be very helpful to you, if you are having multiple store.
Try to look for a solution that is not too complex for you to setup and manage. AFAIK Qb POS can integrate with online store via a third party application.
