Firstly I’m new here so unsure if this is the right place to ask, or is this is an appropriate question!

We are a new business who will be selling motorcycle parts.

We will be selling these on our website, ebay, over the phone and via our shop.

We will have approx 5000 – 10000+ products

What sort of system will be best for us to manage everything?
I.e. record customer details, products and produce receipts etc
Also we don’t want to spend a fortune! ( and I know you only get what you pay for!)

You are probably looking at a SAP based business solution
In effect your stock would be central BUT must be under central control
Therefore if an internet customer purchases then it is SOLD before a real customer in the shop!
The advantage is that your online customers can see the current stock level
The disadvantage is that ebay items have to be classed as SOLD

I know of a few retailers that have recently implemented such systems
You are looking at near on £10K, excluding hardware and support costs

Microsoft epos system solution running on sql server with integrated ecommerce system would easily meet this requirement. Saps quite an overkill for this and the solution would not cost more than 4k. If you need more information please visit www.rmsstore.co.uk...

I do agree SAP can be overkill, but where a company already has a large number of lines, and therefore probably a large amount of stock handling and associated invoices for different suppliers and outlets, then SAP actually saves time and money

It's a fine line between something simple but will need completely replacing in 5 years or a longterm setup where only the hardware may need replacing

Observe the use of "probably" and "may"
Without knowing the exact nature of the business it is difficult to specify what may be correct and worthwhile
An invitation to tender would probably be the next best step, where actual specifics can be advised on
