6-days and counting until the launch of my new e-commerce website....woo hoo.
Three months of photos, copy and T&C's blah blah blah
It's in the testing stage at the moment with a soft launch next Monday followed by a HUGE marketing campaign leading up to Christmas.
Monday can't come quick enough as I bought the stock ages ago and due to various technical problems, we have had to delay the launch. But of course I've had to pay for the stock! Doh!!

It's probably on sandbox mode, so wait until official launch
There is nothing worse than someone finding a website during this stage!
good luck with that, And let us know what site it is if you want some feed back.

Thanks for the support people and of course I will post a link on Monday. Not to sure what "sand box" mode is ?? But I can tell you that we have uploaded everything and the developers are testing the mechanics of the site over the next couple of days.
It will be my first venture into international trading as well!! So the site comes with a quick change facility from £ - $ -Euros. Pretty cool feature.

"sandbox" mode
Where a website is open to public access but the ecommerce facility is not yet completed
Test purchases are done by the developer with a "fake" email address to ensure payments go through
Both the system and merchant recognise this "fake" email address and so it is treated like an online payment
This can be helpful if a people report they completed the process but their debit or credit card would not process and returned a fault
Sometimes the merchant details are incorrect or there is actually a fault between the websites

That's it...it's now live! Had quite a few teething problems with the mechanics today but finally a live site....woo hoo!!
Ok, ok ok....dont knock it too much as we've got a few issues that we will need to resolve on Monday before we switch on Google Adwords but hey.....it looks great.

Please be kind.....it takes a lot and I mean a lot of work to get to this stage!

It's good to see an easy to navigate and well designed website
Not sure why you mentioned Google AdWords, it can take while to get them working effecively
I have found the results to be very mixed and should only be used to supplement other advertising streams
I've been working with Google AdWords for several years now and learned soem tricks, hence why I offer a managed service for customers that don't have time to manage them at regular intervals (which you MUST do)
Avoid placing Google Ads at ALL COST, or any other type of advert for that matter
Not appropriate to ecommerce websites (you want people spending money on your website, not someone elses)
The website text is rather too light and/or small in some places, as such it would fail the DDA requirements on commercial websites in the UK (but so many already do anyway, but as yet noone seems to be doing anything about it!)

I've also compared the Contact Us address to that of the registrant, and they are different
This is one thing that puts off many people, myself included
They really should be the same
Quiet a difference between Stokesley and Piercebridge

Morning all,
Thanks for your comments m8. We manage Adwords very well and spend quite a bit of time getting them right. My "claim to fame" on my other site is that if you typed in the name of the worlds most popular dog food (Pedigree Chum) into Google, my online shop is the first shop listed!!!
Google Adwords are only used as a supplement to other advertising and we monitor sales and not visits to the site. I have a huge amount of KPI's attached to the site that allows us to understand our visits/sales etc.
Understand what you are saying about the address. The company is registered in Piercebridge and this new site operates from Stokelsey. Don't quite know what we can change there.

Hi Ian,
Looks very good at first glance! Just a tiny thing - seems to be quite a lot of white at the bottom of the index page?
I'll have a proper look in the next few days when I've caught up with myself!

Wow you should give your self more credit!!! its amazing!!!!!
I thought it would be shabby and a bit of a wiff waff, but it looks really professional, I wonder if you could give me the contact of the guy that did the website for you!!!!
wowowowo NICEEEEEE!!! I wish I had something of that calibre and quality for my electronics goods :p
Best of luck, if I had to criticise anything, I would say the name could be better but the logo makes up for it.

Hi There,
Just read you post about your new site, looks good.
I am having one made by a company called managed ecommerce at the mo, found them by chance, which was odd...nice people they build, administrate (so photos, stock upload etc etc all the boring stuff) for you and then manage it, Do the marketing too so the SEO i think its called...im new to it all.. they then send you an email daily with the orders including invoices and labels... all for £200 a month, which isnt a lot when you work it out...and if you want to change the store they do it same day...anyway,

I dont know your business but if your like me and have no time etc have a look.

Thanks for all the replies guys....sorry not been around for a couple of weeks cos my dad (76) had a serious accident and lost his memory and this all happened in Florida whilst he was on holiday alone!! I flew out to Tampa to rescue him and return him to the UK. He is currently undergoing various tests in hospital.
Anyway the site is now up and running....all feedback taken on board....thanks.
We have not advertised yet anywhere other than a little Google Adwords and we are still waiting for the google spider to pick up some of the pages. However 3-weeks in and sales are better than expected as we gear up for our major launch in Nov.
I have a discount code if anyone knows of anyone into horse riding....PASSITON
Hope thats ok to stick that on here??!!
The site developers are a company called Visualsoft based in Middlesborough.
I'll give you more of an update when my feet finally touch the ground and I manage to empty my in-tray!!
Cheers all
it would be better if you can give us the link
anyway ,gook luck of your site

If you care to read the thread in full, you'll see the link to the site is repeated a number of times.
This site looks professional, crisp and clean and I am sure it will do really well for you. Fantastic product photography and also, what a fab logo! Well done to you and your team and best of luck with your launch.
