A supermarket is to remove free plastic bags from one of its stores for a fortnight from Monday to encourage recycling.

Customers at the Waitrose outlet in Saffron Walden, Essex, will instead be asked to re-use old carriers.

They should charge people for their carrier bags like they do in Ireland. It works. People don't like having to part with their pennies for something that was once free!

That would work. Especially if youy charged something like fifty pence per bag.
