http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00q078j
Broadcast in Scotland only, but may be of interest to those in the rest of UK
Crime in retail is on the increase
Of note are the gangs [names witheld] that travel from Scotland to England, then sell the goods locally here in Scotland
If you've never heard of "steal to order", then this might open your eyes...
even TVs, Washing Machines
it's crazy the lenghts that some people go to, and the fact that they get away with it !!!!
That is awful isn't it?
Unfortunately no matter how much technology improves thieves just seem to find a way around it all the time - they evolve with the technology unfortunately!
I can't believe they steal from one side of the Uk and sell it on the other though! Clever of them! No wonder they get away with it so blatantly!
Its crazy isn't it? Even with today's security this can happen!

Have you managed to actually watch the program?
The [gang from Scotland] have been well documented in the past, both in the newspapers and on TV
Ironically, their tactics exploit the lack of technology
Equally, they are well known here in Scotland and started travelling to Carlisle (for obvious reasons they didn't travel to Newcastle)
Given the volume of theft (and we are talking figures in the £'000s per day by a "work gang") it was only a matter of time before Police in Cumbria put some measures in place to at least deter the gang
I have seen the gang at work here in Glasgow
The store they targeted on Argyle Street is a well known brand and in just 30 minutes they stole £50,000 (at full retail price) worth of stock
The store remained closed for three days, I attended on the last day, just as an enormous delivery arrived (and it was needed too!)
I had a quick peek but have not managed to watch the whole thingyet as I have been at work and on the net lol
