View Full Version : Is turning into a Newsagents a bad idea?
Well were not really. We are a computer specialst but were thinking of maybe selling drinks aswell. Only a 2 door 1m chiller. Just with the summer period here. Or do you think we should steer clear?
I would steer claer. Selling drinks is a million miles away from selling computers.
I don't think that is a good idea.

How come? Will it not be a good idea for me to try and bring different types of people into our store?
I don't like it either. I think it's good for places such as dvd rental places as it matches the product they are selling. But for you I don't think that there is a strong enough connection to what you specialise in.

I can see where you are coming from. But if I'm out walking down the street and I need a drink , I will walk straight past your computer store and walk to the newsagents three streets away to get one. I wouldn't have considerd that I would have been able to buy one from you.

I agree - match the products.
Maybe offer a cold drinks vending machine if you have large premises and lots of customers though, but you'll be doing it for customer satisfaction rather than profit.
